Sunset Sunday formed in March 2014 and quickly released a demo album in January 2015 consisting of 14 songs. After a string of shows and festival appearances throughout 2015 and 2016, the band recorded their debut album later that year. 'Not Just a Phase' was released in February of 2017.
Sunset Sunday played a sold-out release show at the Plough in their hometown of Taunton. The band went on to tour the album extensively around the UK, sharing with stage with such bands as Ashestoangels, and an appearance at Glastonbury Festival.
After a short hiatus, Sunset Sunday returned in the summer of 2019 to support Woes, Mallory Knox and WSTR at shows in Bristol and Swindon. The band then went on tour with The Bottom Line and Bronnie in January of 2020, and performed a four-song taped set at QuaysTV in Manchester the next month.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunset Sunday released a string of 21 cover songs in 21 consecutive weeks on the band's social media channels, from April to September 2020. The 'Covered In Quarantine' series featured 35 guest artists including the likes of Frank Turner, tour-mate Bronnie, and many others.
Following the conclusion of Covered In Quarantine, Sunset Sunday released a re-recorded version of their song 'Make the World Hate Again', an anti-Trump song, exactly one week prior to the 2020 US election, encouraging people to vote against him in the election, and raising funds for the ACLU via single merch sales. This song was paired up with a fresh mix of Covered In Quarantine song, 'Four Simple Words' - the band's Frank Turner cover.
A month later, Sunset Sunday then released a second re-recorded single of their song 'MD', paired up with the Covered In Quarantine track 'Don't Look Back In Anger (feat. Bronnie)'.
